Honda SC announces leadership change
GARY MABREY

TIMMONSVILLE – Honda of South Carolina Mfg. Inc., (HSC) announces that Gary Mabrey will become the company’s new president, effective April 1. As president, Mabrey will be responsible for total HSC operations. Mabrey is currently senior vice president at Honda of South Carolina Mfg., Inc. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Honda of South Carolina Operations Committee, which is the senior management team in support of the operation of the company.

Mabrey replaces Brian Newman, who will become the North American Powersports Products Production Strategy Leader with Honda North America, LLC. (HNA) in Marysville, Ohio. Mabrey started his Honda career in 1989 in purchasing and has served in a wide variety of leadership positions with Honda of America Mfg. in Marysville, Ohio. In 2006, he joined the newly established Honda Manufacturing of Indiana (HMIN) as the purchasing department manager. In 2012, he was assigned as manufacturing division manager, responsible for all manufacturing operations.

Mabrey is an Ohio native and holds degrees in logistics and production operation from The Ohio State University. Brian Newman was named HSC president in April 2013. During his tenure as president, the company introduced the new Side-by-side product lineup with the Pioneer series multipurpose models. HSC is the exclusive manufacturer for Honda Side-by-side products. In his new role, Newman will be responsible for the development and expansion of Powersports Products (PSP) production in North America.

Newman has played a valuable role in the development and sustainability of Honda’s operations in South Carolina and in North America. As the first U.S. President of HSC, he was also an active leader in the community, serving on multiple boards and committees to include the Florence Darlington Technical College Area Commission Board and South Carolina Workforce Leadership Team.

He formerly served on Florence County Chamber of Commerce Board and South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Board. Today, HSC employs more than 1,000 associates in its 655,480-square-foot facility. With the flexibility to produce many different types of Powersports products, using domestic and globally sourced parts, associates at the Timmonsville plant manufacture Honda ATVs and Side-by-sides for the North American market, as well as exporting globally.
