Local banker named as honoree
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area is pleased to name Tom Ewart, Market President for First Reliance Bank, as their 2018 Champion For Youth.
The Champions For Youth Tribute in his honor is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, at The Waters Building.The event begins at The Waters Building (135 S. Dargan Street in Florence) at 6 p.m., with the award presentation at 7 p.m. Sponsorships range from the $10,000 Hall of Fame sponsorship (including 12 attendees and a Carolina Classic sponsorship) to a $250 Booster sponsorship for two attendees Individual tickets are also available for $75. The evening will also include a special “heads or tails” contest.
A long-time community leader, Tom Ewart serves several local and statewideorganizations. These include ScienceSouth, Pee Dee Regional Education Center, the (BGC) State Alliance, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area, Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, Florence Rotary Club, and St. Luke Lutheran Church. In addition to his community service, Ewart is Market President for First Reliance Bank. Prior to his current position he served in various roles throughout the banking community.
Ewart received his BA from Newberry College and his Masters from Golden State. He also attended the School of Banking of the South. His blended family includes four adult children. Ewart has been recognized for his community and professional involvement. He received the Sam Walton Leadership Award, and was named Boys & Girls Club Board Member of the Year for the state of South Carolina.

This fifteenth annual Champions Tribute supports Boys & Girls Club programs that help thousands of children throughout the Pee Dee grow into productive adults. Your attendance and financial contribution will help brighten the lives of some of our community’s most promising children. The Boys & Girls Clubs serve youth every day after school and all day on nonschool days and during the summer. Clubs provide a safe place where young people can learn and grow while helping them become productive citizens.
