ScienceSouth, in partnership with Dooley Planetarium, is hosting a free astrobiology workshop, Saturday, April 16, as a part of NASA Saturdays in the Pee Dee. ScienceSouth is located at 1511 Freedom Boulevard in the Freedom Florence Complex in the big white dome in the rear of the property. The free event is open for grades K through 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m, and open for grades 5 through 10 from noon to 2 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Register by Wednesday, April 13, on ScienceSouth’s website at nasa-saturdays-in-the-pee-dee/. A second NASA Saturday event, an Evening Sky, will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Visitors use a variety of telescopes to look at the night sky. The viewing will take place at the FMU Observatory located behind University Center and the soccer fields. The Evening Sky observing session is open to all ages of the public. Information on the observatory, including a map for its location, is found at astro.fmarion. edu/observe/welcome.
