PDRTA reduces bus route 6
Service on PDRTA Bus Route 6 serving South Florence was reduced Monday to two trips each weekday from the current nine trips. The reduction is due to a reduction in local funding to support the bus service. Much of the service is supported with federal funds administered by the Federal Transit Administration, however, such funding requires non-USDOT funds to match. Some, but not all, of the required matching funds are provided by the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
Passenger fares provide less than 20% of funds and are not allowed to be used as a match for the federal grants. The two trips will operate beginning at 8:40 a.m and 4:40 p.m. from the Wal-Mart on S. Irby St. More information is available on PDRTA’s website, www.pdrta.org, or by calling PDRTA at 665-2227.
