on Thursday, 08 October 2015. Posted in Good life, Local News

Can you sing like a nut?

The 12th Annual Florence Pecan Festival welcomes back the SING LIKE A NUT talent competition with opportunities for artists to showcase their singing skills! The competition will be held at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center in the Black Box Theatre on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

There will be three age categories: Youth age 5-12, who will compete for a prize of $100; Teens age 13-17 who will compete for a prize of $250; and Adults 18+ will win $500 and studio time. Additional prizes for adult competitors include headshots, plus an opportunity to perform on one of the Pecan Festival stages the same afternoon of the competition! But wait, that’s not all… The Adult category also has an interesting new feature.

In celebration of the spirit of unity, artists are asked to perform songs centered around the themes of peace, love, togetherness, civic pride, etc. Contestants in this category can perform original compositions or choose from a list from various genres of music on the “Sing Like A Nut” section of the Pecan Festival’s web site.

To see a list of song selections, rules, how to enter and general information, please visit www.florencedowntown.com/downtown-events/pecan-festival. There is no fee to enter and the application deadline is Monday, October 19, 2015. Do you have what it takes? Show us and "Sing Like A Nut!”
