Sisters 4 the Future looking for a miracle

Sisters 4 the Future, a faith-based group that helps abused women, is looking for help themselves. They need land to establish a shelter and they need it quickly. The group already has a four-bedroom home donated to them as well as someone to move it. They just need to find property to put it on within the next two weeks. “It is miracle times,” said founder and director Terester McAllister, explaining that the staff and board members are praying for a miracle.

Sisters 4 the Future provides group sessions weekly to help women overcome the hardship from being abused reach their potential and to escape from the mask of poor self-worth, depression and hopelessness. “There are women in our community who still hide behind the mask,” MaAllister commented. “Our goal is to help decrease homelessness and help these women increase their employability rates through education and lead them into becoming independent.

She said Sisters 4 the Future program provides a “tool kit” which includes spirituality, debt management, health and wellness, and motivational activities to help women move forward in their lives after abuse, and to help them find a home. The house that they have been given will serve as temporary housing, if they can get it moved. Otherwise it will be demolished. McAllister was inspired to assist women in March of 2014. She is a counselor with the Department of Mental Health and volunteers her time off with this ministry.

The board of directors include Kertrina Graham, Mia David, Wendy Johnson, Lynn Poston and Angelica Reyes. Sisters 4 the Future has an office at 901-B Santiago Drive where women who have suffered abuse are welcome to join in group sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays anytime from 5 until 8 p.m. “We are asking for someone in the community or the surrounding area to come forth to assist us with some land to complete our vision and fulfill God’s purpose,” McAllister said. McAllister may be contacted at 843-610-4549, or Elsie McFadden at 843-245-5203.
