Take a wild guess contest

During the month of October, patients at Florence Pediatric Dentistry, and the public, may guess how many cans are in the McCall Farms canned goods tower for the “Take a Wild Guess” contest. Whichever patient or patients come the closest will win a gift card to The Toy Shop.

The Take a Wild Guess contest is an ongoing contest at the office featuring a different theme each month. October’s canned goods theme is the first time that the public is also invited to join in the fun and “take a wild guess.”

The winning outside guess will also receive a gift card to The Toy Shop, and the canned goods will be donated to Harvest Hope in their honor.

Take a Wild Guess Day is a day that was founded purposefully to coincide with National Tax Day (where figures have to be exact), and offers a refreshing break, where your imagination has free reign and the focus is on hunches, deductive reasoning, and guesswork. The contest started at Florence Pediatric Dentistry in April 2014 and has continued ever since.

“In an effort to keep things fun and educational for our patients, we keep up with all the unusual and goofy days on the calendar and Take a Wild Guess day is one that our patients really seemed to get excited about,” said Dr. Kimberly Elvington. “I think this is also a refreshing break for children from the stress and pressure of testing and feeling like there is always a right or wrong answer.”

The main reason for opening the contest to the public is to also help bring awareness to Harvest Hope Food Bank, a local charity whose mission is to provide for the needs of the hungry with dignity, compassion, and education. The canned goods were chosen from McCall Farms to spotlight a local business that does so much for our area through providing jobs and giving back to the community.

All outside guesses may be made on the Florence Pediatric Dentistry Facebook page, or emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
