Spend, spend, spend, tax, tax, tax
Have you looked at your cellphone bill lately? The taxes and fees on my two phone bill are 18.5%. I also have a VoIP line with TWC, along with TV cable, and the tax is 9.5%. Is a personal telephone a luxury or a necessity? Perhaps some of both. Should you and I have to pay for someone else to have a free or subsidized phone? Our all knowing government thinks we should.
Free cellphones are passed out like candy and taxpayers foot the bill for the phone and free monthly usage. They are called Obama phones to insinuate the cost comes out of his pocket. Now the telephone co-ops want us to help pay more for people to have land-line phones that live in remote areas with a cellphone fee/tax. Land-line customers already pay a nearly 3% tax according to the article in the Nov. 4 Morning News, page 3A.
Now they want more. It seems to me that America is inching more and more into socialism. I say more and more because we are already there. Spread the wealth. Rob the rich (and middle-class) and give to the poor. That is how it works in America. Spend, spend, spend, tax, tax tax. $18.5 trillion in debt and printing money every day to give away. What a country! Dave Hicklin, Florence
