Letter to the Editor: Easter should be all about the resurrection

To the editor,

Bunny rabbits, colored baby chicks and ducks, dyed eggs, egg hunts, and a new outfit to wear. All these things are related somehow to the day we celebrate as Easter. For the vast majority of people, this is what Easter is all about. For some, as it used to be for me, Easter Sunday is a day like Mother’s Day or Christmas when we go to church with Mama. I still enjoy doing these things with children and I surely miss Mama not being here so I could go to church with her and celebrate Easter for what I know now is the reason for celebration. Besides God’s grace, and Jesus dying for my sins, my mama was the biggest reason I am saved and on my way to heaven.

Christians celebrate Easter as the day Jesus was resurrected from the grave. He was crucified and was buried and rose again, according to scripture. This is the gospel as written in First Corinthians 15. Because of God’s love and grace, we can become Christians through faith in Jesus Christ. It took Divine Power to raise Jesus from death and it takes God’s power for us to become Christians. We believe and know Jesus lives today because we have experienced God’s power in the “newness of life” that we have now through faith in Him.

Jesus told His disciples, “Because I live, ye shall live also.” Jesus was raised bodily from the grave and lives today, seated at the right hand of God our Father in heaven; and so will everyone who places their faith and trust in Him.

John 11:26 asks, “And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

It’s time to answer the question.

O, what hope and peace can be found in this promise of our Lord today, if we would only believe! Jesus is the answer to our fears!
